Matt looks after primarily owner-managed businesses in a variety of industries, ranging from manufacturing and construction to professional services and media, turning over £1m to £200m. Matt's clients also include international groups and private-equity backed businesses.
Experience
Matt's career began in 2006, joining a regional practice (which later became part of S&W) as a trainee, having studied History and then a Masters in Holocaust Studies at university. Matt qualified as a chartered accountant in 2010 and became a Responsible Individual in 2017. In addition to audit, Matt has previously headed up the Tunbridge Wells office's share and business valuations team.
Notable client work & achievements
Matt led a team which audited a group of renewable energy companies, achieving sign-off within a seven-week period to enable the client to comply with covenants on £250m of listed loan notes.
Matt helped one of his clients to treble the price obtained for his shares in a £40m security business, by critiquing the valuation provided by the advisors to his former co-shareholders.

FRS 102 changes: Real estate
Updates to FRS 102, effective from 1 January 2026, are likely to have a smaller impact on real estate investors’ financial statements than compared to their tenants. However, it will affect them in several ways and, as always, preparation is key.
