Ben Stapleton

Ben is an audit partner with 30 years of experience. He has typically worked with fast growing and dynamic privately owned businesses, including those achieving growth through acquisitions or an expanding international footprint. He commonly provides feedback on audit findings and financial controls to investors, including private equity and family owners.

Ben’s audit expertise is supplemented by a number of voluntary not-for-profit roles over the last 10 years and being a board member for the entity delivering our firm’s audit services. 

Experience

Ben has experience providing statutory audits and assurance services. His audit work typically includes reporting under either UK GAAP or IFRS and acting as either component or group auditor within international groups. 

Alongside his statutory audit work, Ben supports his clients in meeting their business objectives including inputting ideas on achieving a strong governance framework and dealing with business change. He often provides accounting and wider advice on changes such as acquisitions, international expansion or restructurings.

Prior to joining our firm, Ben gained over 25 years of experience in KPMG’s private enterprise audit practice. This included 12 years leading audits in the middle market, many of which were part of international groups. 

Outside of his core audit work, Ben sits on the board of the entity delivering our firm’s audit services overseeing a variety of financial and operational matters. Over the last 10 years he gained wider experience from two voluntary roles chairing an audit committee for an educational body and as treasurer to a small charity.
