Charles Brook, Director

Charles Brook has over 40 years' experience of advising and supporting business clients, helping them to successfully navigate problems that often have very significant financial implications, either for the business entity, its owners, or a host of other potential stakeholders.

His initial training as a lawyer, early experience of working first in a national credit management role within what was then the UK's largest distributive supplier to the construction industry, before returning to private commercial practice as a litigator, established his credentials as a problem solver and set him up for a mid-career move into the field of Corporate Recovery and Insolvency.

Charles's formal career in Insolvency and Restructuring commenced at Coopers & Lybrand/Cork Gully in the mid 1990's and advanced with attaining his licence to practice as an Insolvency Practitioner in 2000 whilst at BKR Haines Watts.

Since 2001 he has been either a Partner or Director in a number of regional boutique and national mainstream Corporate Recovery and Restructuring practices, where his practical and analytical skills have helped him to build a reputation for providing clear, incisive, and practical advice and support to SME owners, boards, and other stakeholders when tackling financially impactful challenges across a wide range of business sectors.

Charles joined S&W as a Restructuring Director in the Manchester office in April 2026.

He has strong experience of assisting engineering and manufacturing businesses, but is also very familiar and comfortable with retail, hospitality, business service, and construction industry environments.

He is a singing member of The Huddersfield Choral Society, of which is also a trustee and past Treasurer and General Secretary. His other interests include family holidays, motorcycling, and an eclectic taste in literature.
