Experience
Claire is an Associate Director in S&W’s Forensic Services team and has specialised in dispute advisory work, predominantly in the area of loss of profits and valuations, for the last 20 years. She is a qualified Chartered Accountant and trained for three years in KPMG’s Financial Sector audit practice prior to specialising in disputes.
Claire has twice been appointed as expert on quantum in high court matters, with both cases settling before she was due to give oral testimony.
Claire’s experience includes preparing valuations and quantum calculations and drafting expert witness reports and joint statements. She has worked on High Court matters, as well as on international arbitration matters across a range of forums, including LCIA, ICSID, UNICTRAL and ICC. Her experience includes contentious valuations, loss of profit and account of profit assessments, intellectual property disputes, Wrotham Park damages assessments and warranty claims. Claire has also supported the Expert Determiner on a number of occasions.
Claire has experience of working with clients across a wide range of industries and sectors including, mining, energy, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, sport, gaming and the financial sector. She has worked on matters for clients based across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

Examples of notable cases Claire has worked on include:
- appointed as expert to determine the loss suffered by a restaurant due to frequent closures as a result of property issues;
- appointed as expert to determine the loss arising following the destruction of prototype aircraft;
- assessing the loss following the termination of a nuclear power project;
- assessing the account of profits in a US$1 billion claim following a finding of breach of intellectual property rights in the software industry;
- valuation of a share in an oil-field project off West Africa, including modelling the cash flows arising, considering the production sharing contract;
- assessing the account of profits and Wrotham Park damages of the profits earned by an investment bank following the misappropriation of a business idea.
