Experience

Nadeem began his finance career in 1993 and has spent 25 years working across all the ‘Big4’ accounting firms, both in the UK and overseas, initially working as an auditor for three years and qualifying as a Chartered Accountant before specialising in restructuring and going on to complete his JIEB exams. 

Within this period in 2002, Nadeem spent just over three years working in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) where he was responsible for establishing the restructuring departments within two of the Big4 firms and working closely with the Financial Services commission in relation to the introduction of the BVI Insolvency Act. Later, in 2013, Nadeem spent three years based in Antigua and working across the Eastern Caribbean developing the restructuring practice for a Big4 firm.

In late 2017, Nadeem took some time out of practice to work as an in-house Finance Director for two companies in the property and construction sector before returning to Evelyn Partners in 2021.

Nadeem has worked across many industry sectors including working on a number of high profile assignments. Such mandates have included advising distressed businesses, completing strategic and contingency planning reviews on behalf of lenders and investors as well as working with management teams to assess possible options whether that is turnaround/restructure, refinance, sell or exit and within or out of a formal insolvency process.

One of Nadeem's key attributes is his work ethic and his desire to do a good job, add value whether that means developing a new relationship, driving new strategies or finding a solution to improve performance. He has a definite ‘can-do’ attitude.

Notable client work & achievements

Nadeem has worked on many interesting and challenging cases throughout his career which include:

• JJB Sports Plc and Blacks Leisure Plc, both of which went through two CVA processes followed by an administration involving numerous stakeholders.
• Nadeem led on the administration of Lexi Holdings Plc, a bridging loan company where the directors had defrauded its banks by over £120m. That case involved significant forensic work with asset tracing in the UK and various overseas jurisdictions. The case was taken on by the SFO to investigate and pursue the directors who were ultimately imprisoned.
• In Antigua, Nadeem led the Judicial Management process of British American Insurance Company, an insolvency process that impacted investors across the entire Caribbean region, working closely with Government representatives in each region to formulate a solution by region given the differences in insolvency law by island.
• Most recently, Nadeem has led on the administration of Everest 2020 Limited, a well known national manufacturer and supplier of PVC windows and doors. this was a high profile assignment given the vast number of customers who had paid significant amounts in advance for the installation of windows and doors that were ultimately never supplied.
