Restructuring and recovery across sectors including energy, travel and technology

Experience

Colin, a qualified accountant and licensed insolvency practitioner, joined Smith & Williamson 12 years ago having previously gained national and international restructuring experience with two Big Four firms.

Colin advises stakeholders, including lenders, private equity houses, directors and shareholders, on a wide variety of restructuring and recovery situations. He undertakes business reviews on behalf of funders, and provides pre-insolvency advice to directors, often helping to avoid the need for a formal insolvency procedure.

He has significant success in rescuing companies via company voluntary arrangement or rescuing businesses by selling them as going concerns, usually resulting in enhanced recoveries for creditors. His extensive experience in formal insolvency appointments spans administrations, receiverships and liquidations (both solvent and insolvent).

In recent years Colin has also built up a reputation for his fraud and asset tracing work and has been central to our success in developing our investigations team working with HM Revenue & Customs.
