John Howarth

Experience

John has over 25 years of experience supporting dynamic growing businesses to scale their operations both within the UK and overseas. He has worked across a range of industries - including law firms, manufacturing, retail and renewable energy. He has spent time in industry and as a board advisor. 

John's focus is working with privately owned, PE backed and AIM listed companies - a number of whom are going through change. He has extensive experience of accounting, financial reporting, internal controls and governance issues facing companies with specific knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP. 

He has worked with his clients through numerous transactions, supporting private fund-raisings, IPOs, acquisitions (both buy and sell side) and is familiar with the key issues stakeholder are seeking support with. He balances the practical and the commercial sides of any issues - providing relevant feedback and real value. 

Notable achievements

John has led client work in preparation for and through a change in ownership - in particular purchase by private equity and IPOs onto AIM/FTSE markets.

John has led accounting advisory engagements - conversion to IFRS or new accounting standards. He brings a good balance between a commercial and technically sound solutions.

John has worked in industry - having been the Director of Group Finance at a FTSE 250. He led M&A projects, internal controls, tax, treasury and the group finance teams with a direct report to the CFO.

John's industry experience is principally in technology, retail, utilities and law firms. He has spent time working overseas - principally in the US and New Zealand.
