Experience

Having spent the first 10 years of his career at Deloitte and PwC, both in London and Leeds, before moving to Smith & Williamson, Tommy has built up a varied and dynamic client base of established families, entrepreneurs and international businessmen, along with their associated businesses and trusts.

In recent years Tommy has worked predominantly within the entrepreneurial market and in particular working with owner-shareholders and their businesses. He has a particular focus on individuals who are looking to exit, fully or partially, from their business and to assist them with structuring their family wealth thereafter.

Notable client work & achievements

  • Assisting numerous clients with the sale of their businesses and helping them to understand the tax implications of doing so. Experience of private business sales up to £200m.
  • Helping clients to navigate the complicated UK tax residence system, ensuring there are no unexpected surprises and their affairs are managed in a tax efficient manner when they do so.
  • Establishing suitable holding structures for individuals' family wealth that are both tax efficient and meet their requirements. Relevant structures have addressed future IHT liabilities, brought children into the family business and provided security and clarity for the parents.
