Asker Ali

Asker helps international businesses design and establish robust transfer pricing (TP) policies. He has broad experience across many sectors and jurisdictions, with a particular focus on intangibles, intra-group provision of products and services, and financing.

Experience

 
In addition to working in Big Four and professional service firms in TP, Asker has worked as head of tax and corporate finance roles for over 15 years in international groups, in both the UK and overseas. During this time, he established TP models and managed international tax/TP strategies across the globe.

Asker works across markets and sectors, and has extensive experience in designing, implementing and defending tax effective operating models for international businesses.

Notable client work and achievements

  • Designing and implementing TP policies for a FTSE 100 multinational retailer that reflected the increased shift to online sales from retail stores, the impact of Covid on supply chains, TP/customs interaction, increased investment in technology, and brand value and other intangibles

  • Supporting the owner of a real estate advisory business establish a UK head office and design intercompany arrangements

  • Establishing tax efficient intercompany contracting models for an oil and gas services business operating in the Gulf of Mexico and Africa

  • Helping an entrepreneurial UK-headquartered telecommunications business expand into Europe and the US

  • Establishing a TP framework and governance structure for a leading Premier League football club

  • Supporting a UK aerospace business understand its historic TP risk, and analysing the TP implications of migrating UK activities overseas
