Turning your ambition into a successful career begins with opportunity. Joining our Tax division at S&W means you can choose a programme on either our Business Tax team or Private Client Tax Services team, allowing you to grow in the specialism you want.
Within our Business Tax team we can open the doors to an unparalleled range of clients, from established giants and cutting-edge start-ups to family businesses and not-for-profits.
Our Private Client Tax Services team is no different, with an incredibly diverse client base including high-net-worth families and individuals, as well as entrepreneurs, business owners and family businesses.
Whichever programme you choose, you will work alongside and learn from tax professionals at the top of their game.
You’ll also have the space and support to explore your interests and find out what makes you tick, as well as the flexibility to play to your strengths and find new ways to develop. And all this whilst being part of a vibrant, ambitious community, where fresh ideas feed into innovative solutions.
The day-to-day
Whether you choose private clients or business, the intricacies of tax can be daunting – but at S&W, you’ll never face a challenge alone. We’ll support you every step of the way and be given hands-on practical experience to build your confidence and expertise.
You’ll learn how various tax rules apply to our clients, and how we can provide innovative, tailored solutions to support them with managing their tax obligations. As ever, collaboration is the key to shared success. You’ll work closely with existing client teams, including Partners and Directors, managing the day-to-day delivery of our services and developing a range of professional, transferable and in-demand skills. It's a brilliant opportunity to get behind the scenes – and gain a deep understanding of how tax works.
Graduates and School Leavers
- Business Tax programme includes Association of Chartered Accountants (ACA) Qualification, on a Level 7 Apprenticeship
- Private Client Tax programme includes Associate Tax Technician and Chartered Tax Advisor (ATT/CTA) qualifications, on a Level 7 apprenticeship
You’ll be supported in completing your qualification, gaining the finance knowledge, accountancy skills and real-world business experience to jump-start your career in accountancy, tax and business advisory. And you won’t do it alone – you’ll be joining as part of a cohort with your own personal support network, including a buddy to offer first-hand experience.
Internships and Placements
Both Business Tax and Private Client Tax programmes available.
There is no official qualification that you study towards whilst with us, but you can expect to learn the skills needed to support our clients with navigating an increasingly complex tax landscape, through the delivery of a wide range of tax advisory and compliance related services.
You’ll gain exposure within a high growth organisation and could lead to a place on one of our graduate schemes once you finish your degree.

Depending on the type of programme you are on, there may be multiple locations from which you can choose from. Here is a selection of office locations that run programmes in Tax: Beaconsfield, Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Dublin, Guildford, Jersey, London, Newcastle, Salisbury, Southampton, Tunbridge Wells.

Graduates

School Leavers
Many of our programmes offer Level 7 apprenticeships, which are equivalent to a master’s degree. These highly sought-after qualifications highlight our dedication to in-vesting in young talent.
